Drippy, soggy weather…

…hasn’t helped the general mood.   Is it the same where you are?  I have been cheered however by setting the laptop wallpaper to show a slide show of my blog photos.  I didn’t really think when I started blogging what a bonus to general life it would be.  I record so much more than I would have done without it, and my photography has improved enormously.  Watching the changing display on the screen brings back lots of little moments I would otherwise have forgotten about.  I know I really ought to get to grips with Flickr, but after a little tussle over passwords and things this morning I’m afraid I decided to do something more rewarding…Ironing, anyone? Mmmm, perhaps not!

Also, having a blog focuses the mind on getting on with things, and I have been beavering away at a tutorial today, for the white cotton Christmas Bunting which I hope to publish very soon.

Higgins doesn’t like this weather AT ALL and even though we’ve got the fleecy jacket out again, he  just feels silly.

It actually makes a huge difference being able to wash the jacket rather than bath Higgins after every walk, but I haven’t convinced him yet!

Oh, and I’d like to share this with you. I’ve noticed on other blogs other pampered pets have gorgeous little knitted, crochet  or even patchwork blankets.   And you’ve probably noticed that my own pampered pooch doesn’t.   This is why…

This was once a cushion cover…

I’m going to end with a couple of cheery pictures, little unexpected bits of flowery happiness, just the thing for a dark, wet and windy evening.

Who would expect to find something as beautiful as this in a Little Chef car park?

And this jolly pansy graced a table in the couryard of a St Leonards coffee shop…

Hmmm…I think I need to change my coffee brand…

About penny

I live in Norfolk, England in a cottage on the edge of the Norfolk Broads where it can be peaceful and beautiful, or wet and muddy, or occasionally wild and windswept. With me is husband Tim, Henry the elderly and opinionated tabby cat, and Higgins, the miniature dachshund with a massive personality. You’ll find me chattering on about wool and textiles, knitting and crochet, recipes, books and patterns, exhibitions and shopping and of course, the adventures of a small dog! Planet Penny has a Facebook Page, you can find me on UK Handmade and I am featured on Channel4/4Homes Favourite Craft Blog List.

I’ve just found you via Rachel (Slow Lande Life) We’ve had a wet and dreary day here in the Scottish Borders – very depressing! I’ve enjoyed having a quick browse back through some of your recent posts. Higgins is gorgeous!! Regards, Anne

Although I take an age to get around to things, if ever, I’m really looking forward to your tutorial for the bunting – just like snowflakes if for Christmas decoration.
Doesn’t Higgins have large feet?! I know nothing of dogs [or much else] but heard that the size of an animal’s foot denotes how large it will be when full grown. He’s not a short-leg Doberman in disguise is he?
By the way, if you use a tin for your plants, be very careful of the sharp edges – could be a big ouch moment otherwise.

I was the same kind of weather here in Buckinghamshire too, very dismal.
Poor Higgins does look disgruntled, as I expect you were when you saw the cushion cover.
The flower pictures are lovely, thank you for posting them.
Looking forward to the bunting tutorial, though whether I actually get round to doing anything about it remains to be seen…

I know why Higgins feels silly in his jacket, it is pink, he needs a blue one! Oops that cushion cover suffered for it.
    Gorgeous rose.
Lovely and sunny today after a wet damp Tuesday.

You can keep your damp weather. Here in Ontario it is 17C, sunny, and I am wearing a t shirt. WOO HOO!!
I have some material in the same colour as Higgins’s which I am going to make into a warm cosy cardi. I , however, will not look as lovely in mine!

    *gasp* naughty Higgins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot believe he ate one of your cushion covers!
I totally agree about recording so much because of blogging… I decided I was going to photograph my knitting and crochet journey before I started blogging and it is amazing to look back and see what a change has occurred!
Love your christmas bunting, it will be so snowy and festive!

We have just got back from visiting an old uni friend of mine in the Cotswolds which was gorgeous with variable weather! Alice loved playing with her kids climbing trees and having adventures outdoors. I shall love to attempt your bunting when you post a pattern (I always want to say recipe…I don’t know why:o) Look forward to giving it a go when I have a mo xox
