Needlefelted Robins for Handmade Monday

It’s the final run down to the Pick’n’Mix Maker’s Market in the lovely market town of Holt, Norfolk on the 26th November which is NEXT WEEKEND!!! (Aaaah! Speak severely to self….’Calm down, dear!’)

Actually I am looking forward to it, panic aside, because I will see so many friends, especially Emma of Silver Pebble, Celia of Purple Podded Peas, Gabriella of Moobaacluck, Tracey and Craig of Faded Splendour, and the hostess with the mostess, Lisa of Bobobun. And there will be Daisy Boo’s Kitchen…and CAKE…and lots of other lovely stalls!

So as, much to my delight, my little Carol Singing Mice sold almost immediately I have made another group, and they are just waiting to collect their song sheets and bell…

…and I have been making more needlefelted robins, this time to hang on the Christmas tree…

Despite my efforts to remained focussed I did get somewhat side tracked by discovering the delights of the ‘hexipuff’. It came at me from two different directions, firstly in Vanessa’s post on ‘Do You Mind If I Knit’, and then on the UKHandmade website. Isn’t this pretty?

Such a brilliant way of using leftover sock yarn! These are my first efforts…

…and the lovely thing is that UK Handmade are collecting donated hexipuffs to make a quilt to raise funds for charity, and you can find out all about it here.

Not in the least surprised those mice sold fast! Love the little feet on the Robins and their little button eyes.

First of all I saw the Carol Singing Mice and thought they were so lovely, then moved down and saw the robins. How gorgeous they are. then saw the hexipuff. What a fabulous blog post this week. Many thanks.

I watched Kirsty’s Handmade Britain today where they were doing needle felting and it wasn’t a patch on yours. It looked really difficult too. I love those little mice and those hexipuffs look like fun. x

Penny your needle felted robins far outweigh Kirstie Allsops she made last week on Handmade Britain! (not sure if you watch it or not?)They are like sweet little cherubs, adorable in fact.
You have been super busy,I guess with the deadline on the horizon it must keep you rather focussed.

Regarding the hexipuffs I’ve had my eye on them for a while now, I love Little Owl Knits and would love to knit her fox stole, it’s fabulous. Hexipuffs are brill but unfortunately I still can’t master DPNS !! Hopefully someday soon. My sister is working on the blanket… I keep checking my stash whenever she comes to the house. I think the robins are awesome… what a fab piece of work, I love the foot detail, just excellent!

Those little feet are so darn cute (as are the rest of the robins). No surprise that the mice are a hit. The holiday pressure is piling up, isn’t it? But it sounds like a fun event this weekend. I wish you good sales and a happy time.

I just love all your little felted things. When we were out this weekend looking at Christmas things in the mall, I noticed felted ornaments and it made me think of you. They are quite the trendy thing! But yours are so much prettier. 🙂 Handmade is always better.
