Getting back that blogging habit…

Why is a bad habit so much easier to hang on to than a good one? stopping the nail biting habit

It took me years to stop biting my nails, but it’s been horribly easy for life to get in the way of something I’ve enjoyed doing since, I can scarcely believe it, 2007!  So I’m going to try to get back into the old routine and I hope you will join me on the way.

I have a question though, and I hope you can help.  There is SO much stuff out there written about the best way to blog, and I know that it’s recommended that you should find your target audience, and a subject and keep focused.  And I find that really difficult…me…focused?

I’m too much of a butterfly brain, and that’s a habit I won’t ever lose!

I will admit to hiding behind the old ‘Lifestyle’ label which is rather frowned upon these days, but that’s so that I can ramble on about an eclectic mix of stuff. So…can you tell me, what you’d like more of, or less of come to that?

I’ve got a real back log of things to catch up on after the last months and I’ve been sent some great stuff to review.  I have a new crochet project in the making with the second new Planet Penny Colour collection and the sun came out today and Higgins and I went for a lovely walk. That’s another habit I mustn’t lose…

I rather suspect that one of the things some people would like to see more of is Higgins, who has been conspicuous by his absence lately…

Miniature Dachshund the dog walking habit…but as you can see he is in fine form!

So if you have some feedback I’d love to hear it (and if you got a habit you would like to share – a good one or a bad one) please do share!

See you soon …x

I like the crochet and yarn related posts best, they were why I subscribed 🙂 My bad habit is starting lots of new posts and even a new website, but being too much of a perfectionist to actually publish them regularly enough!

Such irony that yours was the first post in my feed today – many weeks after I’ve been missing from Blogland both as a writer and reader! As to your question: I love blogs that ramble a little bit, especially when they include glimpses into the writer’s life. The things I love best about Planet Penny, though, are the riotous colour in the photos you publish (so inspiring!) and – no surprise here – the gorgeous Higgins. I love hearing about your beach walks in particular (because it’s where I would love to be!). X

The thing I like best about Planet Penny is snippets of every day in the English countryside. (I live in the US and am a bit of an anglophile.) I first came for the crochet and the color, tho. And like so many others love, love, love Higgins.

Just be yourself Penny, blog about what you want to write; as long a dear Higgins makes regular appearances I shall be very happy. x

I like the crochet posts, the ramblings about your everyday life in Norfolk (I lived there for about 8 years) and of course the lovely Higgins. If you write about things that you love and instill a passion in you then your blog will always be a success. Glad to see you back.

P.S. I am perfect and have no habits to speak of ……………………. yeah right!!!!!! ( I’m not going to reveal them here haha )

Just write about what you enjoy doing – eclectic works well for me. I love the variety of your blogs.

What I love about your blog is the variety, and the honesty. I don’t think you need to narrow the focus or have a target audience. Be yourself, and share what interests you. Re. habits, I recently read an interesting book about habits by Gretchen Rubin. It’s called “Better than Before”. She has a theory about how we respond to external and internal expectations that makes a great deal of sense to me.

“blogs” are what happen BETWEEN the crocheting and Knitting and YARNish acquisitions! ;-D
I don’t really get OUT much, so these odd travelogues are quite fun! — We were just “out-of-town” on Sunday… CORN FIELDS were about as exciting as it got! At least for “views”!

I too, don’t think you should change a thing…I am neither a knitter or a crocheter but love to see all the beautiful things you create but I have to say my most favorite things to see and read about on Planet Penny are of course Higgins, your lovely life in the English countryside, etc. It’s all very good just the way it is…well, Higgins could definitely make more appearances! 🙂

Hello! I am a secret lurker. Sorry! But I would like to say that I love your blog just the way it is. I don’t think you have to change it. It is a space for you to write about things that are on your mind, whether crochet, countryside, life or the adorable Higgins and that is why it is so enjoyable. If you try to make it something else then it won’t be about you, if you know what I mean. Thanks for writing 🙂 and I love the nails. Purple is my favourite colour 😉 x
