Here in North Norfolk we seem to be clinging on to our Indian Summer, although it’s been good to light the woodburner once the sun goes down. It’s very poignant, I’m very much a Spring person, and struggle a bit with approaching Winter and I’m finding capturing little moments with the camera a really good way of being more positive about the clocks going back next weekend.
It does mean that sometimes I have to be a bit adventurous to get the shot I want. The Silent Sunday picture this week involved clambering round quite a lot of mud and through dead stalks to get at that last surviving sunflower. Higgins thought I’d gone quite mad and dug all four little legs firmly in the ground when I tried to tow him behind me, so I had to do it with a dachshund tucked under one arm into the bargain!
I’ve been needlefelting this week. With the Pick’n’Mix Market just a short month away I’ve been working on more Christmas decorations making Sputnik Baubles and I’ve had lots of fun with the colours. I said in a previous post I’m working on all-year-round colours, rather than a traditional palette, and I’ve been surprised how jolly and clown like my creations are becoming…
…and you can sort of imagine them orbiting Planet Penny can’t you?
(Now I’m feeling ashamed because I realise just how long I’ve had those wooden hangers waiting for me to creatively cover them!)

You really have captured the last week or so beautifully Penny with those stunning photo’s. I love birds on a wire. Oh no I forgot about the clocks and I too need to find my things to be cheerful about, seasonal change is lovely but the darkness isn’t!

Just gorgeous! So tactile and lovely for all-year-round. I also struggle a bit with winter approaching. The shorter days bother me a bit, as well as the cold. Love that sunflower shot x
I like those felty baubles – very retro sci-fi.
It’s been strangely warm and windy, hasn’t it! But I really don’t mind winter – I get inspiration from winter landscapes and colours and feel like working in my studio without the distraction wanting to be out in the garden until it gets dark.
And that reminds me – I must get working on Christmassy things for PicknMix!

It is really hard to take on board that the clocks go back soon (and I do hate the shorter days) as the weather has been so strange – I love the sun and would love the warm days to continue, but feel the weather person needs to make up their mind. Autumn or Summer?? Lots of lovely colours for your sputniks – they look so good.
Those sputniks are gorgeous! Just right for brightening up this part of the year – but there are so many positives in the autumn and winter too! – coming in from the garden on a damp and misty afternoon to tea and crumpets, long evenings to sit inside and craft, sparkly frosty mornings, making warming soup – lovely

I love the little felted sputniks! Every time I see felting I think, I really have to try it (I pulled old sweaters out of the attic this weekend, I have a few wool things, I’m determined to do something with that stuff).
As for Fall, it is my favorite season, but WE DON’T have FALL here…. 🙁 I’ll trade you, perpetual summer/spring for a little Fall! 🙂
The baubles are so cute! How do you put the buttons on? Do you poke the yarn in with your felting needle or is it actually sewn in somehow? They are bright and cheerful and it makes one happy to look at them. 🙂 Hey, that is something to be cheerful about!

Your baubles are so sweet I love them! And I love the photo of the birds along the wire. When I was little I used to sit and watch all the birds on the telegraph wire outside my house, the more that got on it the lower it got to the ground, always made me smile!

I can imagine Higgin’s reluctance. My mini wire-haired dachshund Wilbur is very unhappy near mud! But what a beautiful last blast of summer that sunflower is!
