Hello! and welcome to another week, I hope it’s going well for you. This week I’m adding a something extra to my Handmade Monday post, I’m sure you will forgive me when you find out what it is.
I want to introduce you to Hannah.
Hannah is 27 years old, and is the best friend of Louise, (who next year becomes our daughter-in-law). At the beginning of this year, Hannah was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Despite an operation, Hannah still needs life saving treatment not available in the UK, and so her boyfriend has start a campaign to raise the £150,000 needed to send her to the USA and the specialist who has helped others as ill as Hannah is now.
If you follow the link to Team Hannah you can meet Hannah and Pete, understand exactly what Hannah is coping with, and also find out some of the inspiring things people from all over the country are doing to raise the necessary funds to reach the target figure.
As there is an Auction for Team Hannah.com site I decided to make a needlefelted item to sell, and as Ducks are apparently a special favourite it gave me a bit of a change from the sheep and cows, and I’ve had a lot of fun making this little chap…
Tim is worried that he looks a little tipsy…
…but I just think he’s just coming home from a really good party and it’s just too much jelly and icecream!
Over on That Elusive Line you can follow the link for another fund raising Auction. Thomas Taylor is a writer and illustrator who created the cover for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, I probably don’t need to remind you what that looks like…
Thomas has signed a new hardback copy of the book and added a sketch of Harry and it is currently being sold on Ebay for the Team Hannah funds.
I wanted to share this with all the people who visit Planet Penny because …well, I don’t need to explain, do I? I know you are a lovely caring lot, if you can send a little donation to Team Hannah, that would be wonderful. But also, we are a big bloggy network, and we can spread the word. If you can mention Hannah on your blog, link to this post perhaps which has all the links, Tweet about it, just tell your friends… it would be amazing.
If you want to find out more about what is going on for Handmade Monday over on Ist Unique Gifts follow the link where you will find all the other participants.
Thanks for listening, I’ll see you soon….x
Edited to add: The Harry Potter book, signed by Thomas Taylor the cover illustrator, sold for £330! Well done William Taylor, who organised the sale for Team Hannah, I’m SO proud of my sons!
