Excuses, excuses…

I was always quite good at those ‘the dog ate my homework’ excuses when I was at school – my mother will vouch for that!  But for quite sometime I have been without a four legged friend at which to point the finger. Not any more!  So now, without further ado, I will introduce the reason why  an exciting,  colourful and in depth post about Great Dixter has not yet been forth coming…

A teeny tiny spot on the landscape, called Higgins.

He’s very sweet…

…in fact completely adorable. It’s a shame about the noise like a crateful of seagulls when put to bed at night!  So we’re working on that, and the five am starts!

He’s keeping very busy…

…and helping me with my diary, so I’m sure we’ll be back in the swing of things very soon.

About penny

I live in Norfolk, England in a cottage on the edge of the Norfolk Broads where it can be peaceful and beautiful, or wet and muddy, or occasionally wild and windswept. With me is husband Tim, Henry the elderly and opinionated tabby cat, and Higgins, the miniature dachshund with a massive personality. You’ll find me chattering on about wool and textiles, knitting and crochet, recipes, books and patterns, exhibitions and shopping and of course, the adventures of a small dog! Planet Penny has a Facebook Page, you can find me on UK Handmade and I am featured on Channel4/4Homes Favourite Craft Blog List.

So we’re definitely talking miniature dachshund here , then ? A snooker-playing miniature dachshund .
He really is very sweet !! And I can quite see why you took him home and knitted him a teddy .

It’s all down to having a cat called Henry, and me wanting to say, as I prepare their meals,’ Just you wait, ‘enry, ‘iggins’!

Oi! Forget Great Dickster, this mutt has trumped your own grandchildren!

Seriously though, he looks like a fab little character. He’s basically about the same size as Tim’s foot, if the photos aren’t misleading. That’s pretty tiny, despite Tim’s feet. He looks like he’ll keep you both busy while poor old Henry goes into grouchy retirement. but then again, p’raps ‘enry and ‘iggins could curl up in one enormous chair…

    Now wouldn’t that be luverly.

    Luverlyyy… luverlyyy… luverlyyy…

Isn’t he just the handsomest puppy in the whole world!

    Congratulations to the proud parents!

Ohhhh! GORGEOUS! Higgins, I’ve completely fallen in love with you! As I was reading this post, I kept on letting out squeaks of “oh!” and “So cute!” Can we have more photos of him that show his size? Like next to a hand or something, just to see how tiny he is? Hugo and I love those smooth Dachsies, and he’s a real beauty. Just gorgeous, will have to show Hugo this post! Love Vanessa xxx

He looks so cuddly and what a superb coat he has. Bit worried about his taste in bedding though. But then, I’m sure that living in and around Penny for a while will soon put him on the right track.

ps I can’t believe that my talented son-in-law whose taste in music starts at the top with Maria Callas and trickles out somewhere near Gilbert and Sullivan has actually come up with the lyrics from a MUSICAL COMEDY?? Steady on Thomas, you’ll soon find yourself singing Climb Every Mountain and queueing up to see The Rocky Horror Show before you know where you are!
