With all my moaning and groaning about the approaching Winter I was really happy to find another excellent way to combat the glooms over on Silverpebble‘s Blog. Emma feels just like me about winter and has obviously been running through the same thought processes about making it more enjoyable. It’s a good way too for all you Autumn/Winter lovers to share the things you love about the season, and lovely warming recipes and seasonal crafts and makes.
So that has got me revisiting a favourite recipe from a favourite chef…
..and make yummy Leek and Potato Soup. Follow the link for my version of the recipe, Nigel Slater has a great way of guiding you rather than being strict about quantities, which is what I love about this cookery book.
We have a special visitor for lunch tomorrow, so this soup, with some local Pesto bread and Goat’s cheese will be delicious, I can hardly wait!
So do visit Silverpebble where you’ll find links for all the other participants…
…and don’t forget to come back here tomorrow to join in with…
Between us we’ll beat the Winter Blues!
Mmm I love leek & potato soup, haven’t made it in ages tho!
Goat’s cheese? Did you say Goat’s cheese? Now that ought to make anyone feel better!
Nigel Slater has to be the best food writer in the world. Would we know your special guest?
That Nigel Slater cook book is my very fave book ever!! i’ve lost count of the times I’ve read it cover to cover.
One of my favourite cook books and soups. Pesto bread is new to me though and sounds heavenly.
I love Leek and Potato soup – I’ll have to check out this one and see how it compares with mine.
You mentioned a low-slung mini dachshund – I thought our spaniel was bad for getting muddy but she must be nothing compared to yours! Juliex
My stepmom used to make leek & potato soup all the time. It’s a comfort food for me. I haven’t had it with goat cheese though. Sounds yummy!
Oh that soup looks completely delicious. As time goes on I like Nigel Slater’s approach more and more. I love his simple suppers and simple cooking series. Your additions to the soup sound fabulous too. Thanks so much for joining in Penny.
Hi,
I’ve left a link at the top of these comments, not sure if I was meant to do that whoops!!! it sort of happened. I thought I was making a linky tool 🙁 sorry if I shouldn’t have.
I read properly after that and looked at making a linky tool, but the instruction made my head hurt :-0 I’ll look again later.
I did make a 3 reasons to be cheerful post, though.
That is my favourite cook book… not only brilliant recipes but such a good read too.
I love leek and potato soup! And recipes that allow for flexibility. And I just realized I’ve been out of goat cheese for too long.
Hopped over from Silverpebble – I’m Making Winter too. Looking forward to seeing what we all come up with.
