In the interests of all things woolly I’m sharing this great infographic, the Clever Crafter’s Guide to Wool from Clippers Ireland. It’s amazing to think that when you snuggle under your wool blanket you are actually covered by seven sheep!
I think I’ve knitted and crocheted with wool from four out of the five animals below, I’ve never tried rabbit though, how about you?
I don’t think I’ll be needlefelting with Vicuna any time soon!
Thank you for posting this. It’s extremely interesting.
I think – sheep, angora and alpaca is my limit and of those, alpaca was the favourite.
Good post Penny – how is Higgins?
Fascinating reading. Have only used a wool mix and I found it quite heavy on the hands to crochet with.
thankyou for the wool info. We used to have an angora rabbit and a friend who spun the wool for me. I have a waistcoat knitted with it and it’s still going strong after 20 years
