Hi, I’m Penny, and I’d like to introduce myself and my life outside the woolly world that is Planet Penny!
I live in Norfolk, England in a cottage on the edge of the Norfolk Broads where it can be peaceful and beautiful, or wet and muddy, or occasionally wild and windswept. With me is husband Tim and Higgins, the miniature dachshund with a massive personality.
I started writing this blog, thinking, ‘But I’ve nothing to write about’ and ‘Who would want to read it?’ and it’s amazing how much I found to say, and the virtual friends I’ve made along the way.
I’ve always been a maker. I learned crochet and patchwork from my Granny, took up knitting in earnest when my first son was on the way, and spent my three childrens’ childhood making toys and clothes out of all sorts of bits and pieces. I was into recycling before it became mainstream!
So when they were grown and going their own way I took myself off to Art School to a course in Visual Studies and got a Degree in making things out of bits and pieces! Along the way I discovered needlefelting, and that has been a passion ever since.
But I’m far too much of a butterfly brain to only do one thing, and that’s how the blog has developed. You’ll find me chattering on about wool and textiles, knitting and crochet, recipes, books and patterns, exhibitions and shopping and of course, the adventures of a small dog!
I have been featured in the Australian Homespun magazine and the UK’s Simply Crochet, and I was featured as a Crochet Entrepreneur in Inside Crochet magazine.
You can also find me as Planet Penny on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram where I share little bits of life, and images of what inspires me. It would be lovely if you could join me.
I hope you enjoy visiting Planet Penny as much as I enjoy writing about it. Please do stop by to leave a comment, I love to hear from you!

Dear Penny, I enjoyed seeing your Autumn sweater. It looks so comfortable, and easy to
crochet. It was on another website, but you gave the name so had to write tell you it’s cute.
